Pendleton County, Where the town is named for Benjamin Franklin and the county for a man from Virginia.Where the fog sits in the valley until nine, and then it does not.Where the snow shuts the school before the radio gets round to saying so.Where the horse camp is run by people who ride, and the camp host is a chocolate Lab.Where a funeral fills the church and then fills the road outside it.Where the Forest Service campground looks straight across at the Rocks.Where the library shuts on Sunday and Monday, and nobody minds.Where your phone loses signal somewhere along the way, and you stop minding.Where the mail comes to a box at the end of a lane, and that is the address.Oakwood Estates, where the rocks in the road are bigger than your truck.Where the maple sap starts running around the tenth of January.Where the weather at the top of the mountain is not the weather at the bottom.
