Pendleton County, Where the county was made in 1788 out of pieces of three others.Korner Shop Cafe in Franklin, where you are sure to run into someone you know.Where there is no hospital, and everyone knows exactly how long it takes to get to Petersburg.Where the Lutheran parish is five churches and one of them is here.Where the schools are the Wildcats and the Braves, and that covers all of them.Where a filling station has a bakery, and the pepperoni rolls are the reason you stopped.Where the pizza is upstairs and the view out of the window is Seneca Rocks.Where the climbing school has been teaching on the same rock since 1971.Where nobody is quite certain what a baker's dozen is, and nobody has needed to be.Where the county clinic will see you the same day if you are sick.Where maple syrup runs faster than the handyman, and more reliably too.Where one town is incorporated and the rest simply are.
