Pendleton County, Where the horse camp is run by people who ride, and the camp host is a chocolate Lab.Where the pizza is upstairs and the view out of the window is Seneca Rocks.Where the town is named for Benjamin Franklin and the county for a man from Virginia.Where one town is incorporated and the rest simply are.Where the teenagers have no concept of a toll road.Where you can build a home and the only inspection you need is for the septic tank.Where Covid was something the city slickers made up.Where the teachers know every student by name, in the whole county.Where the grocery still traces back to the Franklin IGA Foodliner of 1970.Where you wave at the truck coming the other way, whoever is driving it.Where a good spring is worth more than a good well.Where "directly" means in a little while, and everybody is content with that.
