Pendleton County, Where a motel office is inside the pizza place next door.Where one of the campgrounds costs nothing and asks nothing of you either.Where maple syrup runs faster than the handyman, and more reliably too.Where the weather at the top of the mountain is not the weather at the bottom.Where Starlink is the only service that works, on Tuesday at 2:41 in the afternoon.Where you can build a home and the only inspection you need is for the septic tank.Where the Forest Service campground looks straight across at the Rocks.Where a road named after a creek will follow the creek.Where a filling station has a bakery, and the pepperoni rolls are the reason you stopped.Where the tractor has right of way and nobody argues about it.Where Mass is at noon on Sunday, and that is the whole schedule.Where an hour to a supermarket is not a complaint, just a fact.
