Pendleton County, Where the snow shuts the school before the radio gets round to saying so.Where Fort Seybert is a place, a date, and a thing people still bring up.Where the county clinic will see you the same day if you are sick.Where the ground rises and falls further than in any other county in the state.Where you might not know your next-door neighbour, but you are related to them.Where "directly" means in a little while, and everybody is content with that.Where the pizza is upstairs and the view out of the window is Seneca Rocks.Where the teenagers have no concept of a toll road.Where the drive-in at Ruddle is the only movie in town.Where nobody is quite certain what a baker's dozen is, and nobody has needed to be.Where 696 square miles are shared between about six thousand people.Where Starlink is the only service that works, on Tuesday at 2:41 in the afternoon.
